We are once again here, and once again with great news for our federation. The next tournament of CLA EuroCup eFootball, Season 42, has just ended, and once again, our gamers from the CLA Poland division are taking podium places. But not just podium places — last season, one of our gamers took first place, and we’re excited to tell you that this time, we have gold again, and once more, first place! But this time, we have two gamers who fought through tough challenges to secure their podium spots. Congratulations from the whole STEP federation to our gamers, Schabson, who took second place, and Neerven, who claimed first place in the tournament! Incredible emotions, and we are happy to walk this journey with you in this short blog format.
Let’s start, as always, with the three-week DAILY QUALIFIERS stage, which was in the new format, with qualification for the LAST CHANCE stage. Only the top two spots from DAILY QUALIFIERS moved on to the group stage. Our gamers finished in the same places as they did at the end of the tournament — ironically, but it’s true. Schabson, with 85 points, took second place, while Neerven, with 90 points, took first place in the qualification and secured their spots for the next stage with ease.
The path of our podium finishers was split, and they were placed in different groups. Neerven found himself in Group A with very strong competitors, while Schabson was in Group B, where the competition was no less intense. In the battle for a spot in the Upper bracket, both gamers, with some effort, secured their places and both took second place in their groups. Schabson, with an undefeated record of 3/2/0, scored 6 points, which was the same as the gamer from CLA Croatia, but he lost out on goal difference. Neerven, also undefeated, but with more effort, achieved the same result of 3/2/0 and 6 points, just one point less than the gamer who finished in first place in his group.
And then came the PLAYOFFS, which were just as challenging. Both of our gamers started in the upper bracket. Unfortunately, Schabson immediately faced a tough match and lost 2:0 to D3VA, with whom he would meet again later. Meanwhile, Neerven won his match 2:1. In the lower bracket, Schabson immediately defeated a gamer from the Romanian division 2:0 and continued to dominate, eliminating natsuu, another CLA Poland gamer, with a 2:0 score. Meanwhile, Neerven avenged himself and his earlier group-stage defeat, beating D3VA 2:0, and advancing to the final, leaving D3VA for his friend. Schabson met D3VA again, and this time, with a fierce and determined mindset, Schabson defeated D3VA 2:0, leaving him with the bronze and moving on to the final against his division mate. But Neerven was not as friendly towards him—though they’re both from the same hub, on the field, they were enemies. In a very tough battle, with a 2:1 result, Schabson was defeated by Neerven, who claimed the well-deserved gold. Schabson gave it his all, and though he was the underdog of the tournament, he played some of his best matches and will remain in our hearts as one of the best.
